Nepal's PM faces backlash over slow disaster response

A rapper-turned-PM faces criticism over his disaster response. Floods killed at least 1,410 people and left 5,651 missing.

Balendra Shah is 36 years old. He became Nepal's prime minister just six months ago.

He is the world's youngest national leader. Shah now faces sharp criticism over his government's response to catastrophic floods in Nepal and Tibet.

The death toll stands at least 1,410 with thousands more missing. Some survivors say relief efforts have not reached remote hill areas where damage is worst.

One voter flew back from Cambodia to support Shah. He said the government's handling made him regret his vote.

Minister Bikram Timilsina said the government was confused on the first day. He said efforts have since grown stronger.

The government first refused help from seven countries, including China and the US. They later changed that decision.

Some observers say the government should have accepted outside aid right away to save lives.
