Jaymie Graham hired as North Melbourne coach after Clarkson sacked
Jaymie Graham appointed North Melbourne coach to replace sacked Alastair Clarkson.
Graham, who spent the past season as Fremantle's forward-line coach, was chosen from a pool of candidates including Nathan Buckley. Graham replaces Alastair Clarkson, who was sacked last month.
Players complained about confused game plans and mixed messaging under Clarkson. Kangaroos officials said Graham demonstrated strong values alignment and a modern playing style suited to younger players.
Graham is the club's seventh coach since the start of the 2019 season. The former West Coast player and 15-year assistant coach said his varied career, including missing the Eagles' 2006 premiership due to injury, shaped his ability to connect with and mentor young players.
He will introduce new game plan philosophies, which he cautioned may be "clunky" in early weeks.
