Burglary sparks dawn pursuit ending in Monash Freeway arrests
Six suspects arrested on the Monash Freeway after a pursuit that began from a Brighton East home invasion at dawn.
Police intercepted a stolen Nissan 4WD in Chadstone just after midday Tuesday after monitoring it through multiple Melbourne suburbs. The vehicle had been seen driving erratically on EastLink since early morning, when officers were called to an aggravated burglary in Brighton East.
The homeowners woke to noises inside and found two cars had been stolen. All outbound lanes at Warrigal Road were closed as specialist police made the arrests on the bitumen.
Six occupants were arrested and interviewed. No one was injured.
The second stolen vehicle was recovered after a collision in Endeavour Hills.
