Georgia Baker ends cycling season due to post-viral fatigue
Commonwealth Games medallist halts racing to recover from post-viral fatigue.
Georgia Baker, a 32-year-old Tasmanian cyclist, has ended her 2026 season mid-year. Georgia Baker won four medals at this year's Commonwealth Games, two gold, one silver, one bronze, and competed at the UCI Road World Championships just last month.
Baker says post-viral fatigue has made it impossible to train or compete at her level. Baker's return to Tasmania's Christmas Carnivals series is now up in the air, and she is also pulling out of her final race for Jayco.
The decision also means missing the October UCI Track World Championships, which marks the start of Olympic qualification. She says her body needs rest, and pushing harder risked her health further.
